Two killed in bus crash in Texas

At least two people were killed and many others injured when a charter bus carrying elderly people crashed Thursday in the U.S. state of Texas, U.S. media reported.

The bus were transporting the elderly people to a casino in Oklahoma when it swerved off the northbound lanes of President George Bush Turnpike near Dallas, Texas, hit a concrete barrier and flipped, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Media reports gave different accounts of people aboard the bus. Newspaper The Houston Chronicle said there were about 30 people on the bus, but NBC5 quoted Irving Fire Department officials as reporting that 45 people were on the passenger list.

There were also various accounts of people injured. The Houston Chronicle said that officials expected about a dozen patients from the crash. There were also reports that as many as 20 were transported to area hospitals.

The passengers were en route to the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Okla., on a one-day-gambling outing aboard the Cardinal Coach Lines, the Star-Telegram reported.
