An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted Kepulauan Mentawai region, Indonesia at 18:22:29 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 27.80 km, was initially determined to be at 2.1925 degrees south latitude and 99.7292 degrees east longitude.
