Taiwan's share prices closed 0. 49 percent higher on Monday with the weighted index rising 39.58 points to 7,970.38, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

The local bourse fluctuated between 7,996.55 and 7,950.01 during the day's trading. Turnover totaled 75.68 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 2.54 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.
