Vietnam, US hold naval exchange activities

The USS Chung-Hoon and USNS Salvor vessels, led by Commander, Logistics Group Western Pacific Rear Admiral Tom Carney, and Commander, Maritime Staff Element Captain Paul Schlise are on a five-day visit to Vietnam's central Da Nang city, according to state-run Vietnam News Agency.

Sailors, maritime staff, medical trainers, a mobile diving and salvage detachment, and the 7th Fleet Band Orient Express will have naval exchange activities with the Vietnam People's Navy, with focus on non-combatant and skill exchanges in navigation and maintenance.

As planned, professional exchanges will be conducted in the fields of heath, humanitarian assistance, natural disaster relief as well as dive training, salvage and underwater medicine. Ship tours, concerts, community relations events, and bilateral sporting events will also get underway.

During their stay, the Commanders and Captains of USS Chung- Hoon and USNS Salvor will pay a courtesy call to leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee and Naval Zone 3. The US naval vessels docked at Da Nang City's Tien Sa Port on Sunday, and will leave the city on Thursday.
