Brown back to coach Cavs
Mike Brown will be back to coach the Cleveland Cavaliers, local media reported on Tuesday.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal and Cleveland Plain Dealer, Brown, the NBA Coach of the Year in 2009 who led the club for five seasons in 2005-2010, will get his deal officially confirmed as soon as Wednesday.
The 43-year-old coached the Los Angeles Lakers starting in the 2011-2012 campaign but was fired five games into this past season after a 1-4 start.
In the 2007 NBA season, Cleveland advanced to the Finals for the first time in team history under Brown and with LeBron James playing, and only lost the championship series in a sweep to the San Antonio Spurs.
However in the 2010 season, the Cavaliers were defeated by Boston in the second round of the NBA playoffs and Brown was fired despite leading the team to win a league-high 61 regular-season games.
Brown's successor Byron Scott managed only 64-166 in three seasons and was fired last week after Cleveland finished 24-58 this past season.
