FC Seoul into AFC knockout stage with Jiangsu win
Koh Myung-jin and Yun Il-lok scored a goal in each half yesterday as FC Seoul advanced to the knockout stage of the Asian Champions League with a 2-0 win over Chinese club Jiangsu Sainty.
Koh scored in the 32nd minute and Yun doubled the lead in the 72nd as the Korean champion improved to 10 points from five games in Group E, four clear of Vegalta Sendai and Buriram United with one round left.
Takayuki Nakahara scored in the final minute of stoppage time as Vegalta drew 1-1 with Thai Buriram.
In Group F, Urawa Reds rallied to beat Chinese Super League champion Guangzhou Evergrande 3-2 in Saitama to keep alive its chances of advancing to the knockout round.
Lucas Barrios put Guangzhou ahead in the 36th but Shinzo Kuroki, Yuki Abe and Marcio Richardes scored in the second half as the Japanese club stayed third with seven points.
Guangzhou coach Marcello Lippi, who led Italy to World Cup glory in 2006 and is hoping to make Guangzhou China's first Asian champion in 23 years, let his frustrations show and was ordered from the touchline for kicking a water bottle as his team went 1-3 down.
Muriqui reduced the margin late on for Guangzhou, which, however, was also hit by a stoppage-time red card to defender Zhang Linpeng.
Urawa is three points behind Guangzhou and two behind South Korean club Jeonbuk Motors, which beat Thai team Muangthong United 2-0.
Lee Dong-gook scored a penalty in the 57th and Park Hee-do doubled the lead two minutes later for Jeonbuk.
Urawa will play at Muangthong in Thailand on May 1, while Guangzhou hosts Jeonbuk.
