A 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit off Kermadec Islands region, New Zealand, at 2:53 p.m. Friday Beijing Time, according to a preliminary report by the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was initially monitored at 28.5 degrees south latitude and 178.9 degrees west longitude.
