China's Yang Lianhui (center) is declared winner after Fahsai Sakkreerin of Thailand retired before the fifth round of their 10-round IBF Pan Pacific Junior Welterweight bout in Shanghai last night.

China's Yang Lianhui, or Ik Yang, became the IBF Pan Pacific Junior Welterweight champion after his Thai opponent retired after four rounds of their 10-round bout at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai last night.

The 29-year-old Dalian native was clearly on top of the 33-year-old Fahsai Sakkreerin when the Thai decided to throw in the towel after requiring medical attention at the end of the fourth round.

The judges declared that Yang won the bout by a KO, thus handing him the vacant title in his second appearance at the arena this year. In August, Yang beat another Thai opponent Sukkasem Kietyoungyuth for the WBO Asia Pacific Lightweight title.

Yang now holds a professional record of 18-0-0 — 13KOs among them.

Earlier, Ma Yiming, who is also from Dalian, needed 10 full rounds to beat his Indonesian opponent Tommy Seran. The victory gave him two vacant belts — WBO Asia Pacific and IBF Pan Pacific Light Flyweight Championships.

Ma, 33, entered the fight aggressively, taking the fight to his opponent in the first three rounds. Seran, two years younger than Ma, balanced it out with his accuracy in the attack. But Ma was eventually declared the winner with 98 points — 6 more than Seran.

In a 6-round Super Middleweight bout, Henan native Zhou Yunfei beat Joe Rea of Ireland to clinch his fourth victory.

The first bout was between Adili, who hails from China's Xinjiang Autonomous Region, and Filipino Mikemerafuentes.

The fight was called off in the first round itself after Mikemerafuentes suffered a cut under the left eyebrow. It was ruled a technical draw.
