Authorities in Uzbekistan on Sunday declared voting of the country's parliamentary elections at 9,035 polling stations came to a close by 20:00 local time (1500 GMT).

Preliminary results are supposed to be announced by the country 's Central Election Commission Monday morning.

The commission said at a news briefing held in the day that the elections were valid as final voter turnout was more than 88 percent, far exceeding the legitimate minimum voter turnout rate of 33 percent.

"The Central Election Commission has received no reports about violations of the election laws," said Svetlana Artikova, deputy chairperson of the commission, at the news briefing.

There are altogether 150 seats on the parliament of Uzbekistan, but only 135 seats of the Legislative Chamber would be open to grabs via direct elections based on a two-round majority voting system. A further 15 seats are reserved for the country's Ecological Movement under the revised electoral law of 2008.

The actual campaigning of the parliamentary elections started on Sept. 15.
