Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Sisi signed the electoral constituencies law on Sunday, official MENA news agency reported.

According to the law, the parliament will be comprised of a total of 567 seats, 420 for independent candidates, 120 for party-based ones and 27 for presidential appointees.

Independent candidates are distributed over 237 electoral districts, and party-based ones are distributed over four large districts, each of which includes a number of provinces.

The parliamentary polls, whose exact date has not yet been set, are the final step of the three-stage roadmap, including presidential elections and a new constitution, outlined by the new military-oriented leadership for the country's future following the overthrow of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi.

Political parties in Egypt complain that the new draft law which specifies 80 percent of the seats for individuals opens the door for wealthy corrupt businessmen and former government figures to use their influence to get into the parliament.
