Bomb threat reported at Malta's shopping complex
A bomb threat was reported on Sunday evening at the Plaza Shopping complex in Sliema, a bustling commercial town in Malta.
The Maltese police said at 6:34 p.m. (1734 GMT) they received an anonymous call claiming that there is a bomb at McDonald's outlet in Sliema.
Given that there are two McDonald's outlets at the Plaza Shopping complex and Tigne Seafront respectively, both shopping complexes were evacuated by police from the Rapid Intervention Unit and district officials within minutes.
A search is being carried out by members of the police's Explosives Ordinance Disposal as well as sniffer dogs.
Furthermore, diners at nearby restaurants and parishioners at a nearby parish church were also evacuated.
Police investigations were still ongoing at 9:15 p.m. (2015 GMT).
