China's non-ferrous metal production slows
China's total production of 10 major non-ferrous metals grew at a slower pace in the first 11 months of this year, the top economic planner said Saturday.
Combined output grew 6.2 percent year on year to 39.94 million tonnes in the first 11 months, down from 10.5 percent for the same period of last year and 6.5 percent for the first 10 months of 2014, the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement.
Total profit edged up 1.5 percent year on year during the first 10 months, down from an increase of 2.2 percent in the first three quarters.
The 10 major non-ferrous metals include copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, nickel, stannum, antimony, mercury, magnesium and titanium.
The slowdown came amid indicators of lackluster economic activity. The economy expanded by 7.3 percent in the third quarter of this year, the slowest pace since the first quarter of 2009.
