Burkina Faso PM condemns Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack
Burkina Faso's Prime Minister Isaac Yacouba Zida Thursday condemned the terrorist attack against French magazine Charlie Hebdo.
Expressing the sympathy of Burkina Faso's government and people to the French people, Zida said he was dismayed and deeply shocked by the attack against Charlie Hebdo, urging solidarity with France.
He affirmed that Burkinabes who are very friendly to France, will not remain indifferent to this horrendous act.
The Burkina Faso prime minister equally expressed his solidarity with the French government and people, noting that "we shall continue cooperating with them in the fight against terrorism."
"We cannot tolerate that individuals under the cover of whichever religion, can be allowed to carry out such an unfortunate attack," Zida affirmed.
Elsewhere, Burkina Faso's Association of Journalists (AJB) said the attack could not be justified in any manner.
"We cannot fight media freedom with weapons," AJB president Djezouma Sanogo said.
While expressing its condolences to the French people, the French media and families of victims, AJB urged the United Nations to go beyond emotions and deal firmly with terrorism.
"Never before had a media organization been deliberately targeted and its employees killed in such a violent manner," AJB president said.
