After Guo Ailun missed the three-pointer buzzer-beater, Guangdong got their 19th straight win by edging Liaoning 114-111, while the latter was still on top position in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Friday.

Liaoning and Guangdong were both 27-3 after the 30th round, but Liaoning got the point advantage of two sides' encounters in hand.

Will Bynum got a game-high 46 points for Guangdong. Yi Jianlian and Wang Shipeng helped with 19 and 17 respectively.

In their first encounter this season, Guangdong lost to Liaoning 116-112 after overtime, ruining Zhu Fangyu's memorable night of surpassing 10,000-point landmark in CBA history.

After leading by five points as the first quarter ran out, Guangdong built a double-figure margin midway through the second period on Bynum's two free throws, and led by 59-53 into the halftime.

Liaoning cut the deficit within three points with less than five minutes remaining on a 11-3 run, while Guangdong's Wang Shipeng was fouled out.

The two teams tied at 105 with 1:23 to go. Zhu Fangyu's three-pointer and Bynum's layup gave Guangdong a five-point lead, and though the hosts narrowed the gap to 111-112, Guangdong made it to 114-111 in the end. Guo Ailun tried to drag the game into overtime but he failed to hit the buzzer-beater.

Hudson finished with a team-high 37 points. Another foreign player Deon Thompson added 22 points.

Thanks to foreign trio's combined 89 points, Qingdao maintained their third spot after upsetting Shanghai 112-107.

Fourth-ranked Guangsha and fifth-ranked Beijing got comfortable victories, beating Chongqing 128-113 and Sichuan 110-76, respectively.

In other matches, Jilin upset Foshan 137-123, Shanxi beat Zhejiang 127-120, Xinjiang cruised over Bayi 109-83, Fujian downed Shandong 111-104, Tianjin lost to Dongguan 112-100, and Tongxi lost to Jiangsu 121-119.
