Double car bomb attacks kill 14 in northern Syria's Aleppo
At least 14 people were killed on Saturday in two car bomb attacks in northern Syria, a monitoring group reported.
The double car bomb attack struck checkpoints of Kurdish militants and al-Qaida-linked group in Syria's northern province of Aleppo, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
A total of ten people and two fighters with the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front were killed in the first blast that hit a checkpoint of the Nusra fighters in the town of Masqan in the northern countryside of Aleppo, said the group.
The second explosion rocked a checkpoint manned by Kurdish militants of the People's Protection Units (YPG) in the Qatma area on the road connecting the predominantly Kurdish town of Afrin with the city of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo, killing two YPG fighters, according to the Observatory.
Separate reports said the twin bombings were carried by the Islamic State militant group, which is pitted against both the YPG and the Nusra Front.
