Guangdong see off Tianjin, winning run now at 20

Guangdong was on a 20-game winning streak after beating Tianjin 126-114, and Shanxi resisted Guangsha's comeback in the fourth quarter to claim a 113-102 home win in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Sunday.

Six Guangdong players had double-figure points, led by Zhu Fangyu's 30. Yi Jianlian and Will Bynum added 26 and 24 respectively.

Tianjin has never beaten Guangdong since they joined CBA in 2008. Yi Jianlian hit consecutive shots in the post after the tip-off, before Zhu Fangyu, who made 8 of 14 from beyond the arc, helped Guangdong build a double-digit lead. Zhu had 17 points as Guangdong led 39-25 after the first quarter.

The visitors continued their dominance in the next three periods. After taking seven points in a row early in the last 12 minutes, they extended the margin to 22 points, and finally sealed the win.

Tianjin's Dwight Buycks finished with a game-high 32 points and Zhang Zhihan helped with 30.

Von Wafer's 30 points gave Shanxi a huge boost for their victory. Duan Jiangpeng offered much help to Wafer with 24 points including five three-pointers.

After building a 10-point margin into the halftime, Shanxi dominated the third quarter. Jeremy Tyler had 11 points in a row, and Wafer's consecutive shots on the three-pointer line extended their lead to 25 point after this quarter.

Guangsha once cut the deficit to 10 with one minute to go, but still lost the game.

Liaoning maintained leaders' position as they crushed Bayi 94-75. Lester Hudson contributed 21 points and four steals. Deon Thompson scored 15. Li Xiaoxu and Guo Ailun had 14 apiece.

He Tianju's two free throws, combined with Hudson and Liaoxu's three-pointers, gave Liaoning a 10-4 lead, before their opponents used an 8-2 run. Bayi trailed 19-22 as the first period ran out.

Liaoning showed their overall power after the halftime, as they took an 8-0 run to enlarge their lead to 20 points. Things then became easy for them to win.
