The Twitter and YouTube accounts of the United States military command that oversees operations including those in the Middle East were hacked Monday by a group of people claimed to be supporters for the Islamic State.

The Pentagon confirmed hacking of both the Twitter and YouTube accounts of U.S. Central Command.

U.S. officials said the U.S. Central Command Twitter account and its YouTube account were suspended after being hacked. They said the effect of the cyber hack was being investigated but it appeared no classified documents were posted by the hackers.

The hackers posted words like "IS already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base" on the CENTCOM's seized Twitter feed. The site was also filled with threats saying "American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back."

Other postings appeared to list names and phone numbers of military personnel as well as PowerPoint maps. The hackers also retitled the CENTCOM's Twitter page "CyberCaliphate," with an underline that said "i love you isis."

The Pentagon also said in a statement that the military is taking appropriate measures in response to the hacking.
