Police nab over 100 in Nepal's strike

More than 100 party members of Nepal's opposition parties were nabbed and released in the strike on Tuesday night in Nepal's capital Kathmandu and its adjoining districts for damaging public and private vehicles.

The one-day strike hit the daily lives of the common people across the central region of Nepal including several districts.

Spokesperson of the Nepal Police Madhav Joshi told Xinhua that over 68 activists involving in vandalizing vehicles were arrested and released in the evening by in the Capital city.

Dozens of vehicles were damaged during the strike while the major markets, colleges, schools and universities were shut.

Strongly objecting the ruling parties' stance on key contentious issues, the opposition parties called the strike led by an alliance of 30 political parties.

Opposition leaders say that they oppose ruling parties' attempt to establish a new constitution neglecting their opinions.
