For those who have an issue with their MacBook Air's noisy cooling fan, Apple's upcoming fan-less MacBook Air might be their ultimate choice. And they won't wait long.

Apple is planning a special event in late February and is likely to unveil the long-rumored MacBook Air without a cooling fan, according to T-gaap.com.

The slimmed-down MacBook Air will be a 12-inch model with a Retina display and a price of about US$1,099, according to the report.

Rumors of the fan-less model surfaced as early as March of last year. Apple's decision to drop a cooling fan relies on its confidence in Intel's Broadwell Core M processor, which the chipmaker claims to be the most energy-efficient Core processor in the company's history.

Also at the February event, Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to introduce new features and regional launch dates for the Apple Watch, which the company has said will be available in the U.S. and Europe in "early 2015".
