Denmark's Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt said Sunday that no one should get away with attacking the Danish society.

The prime minister also called the shooting incidents a "cold-blooded act of terror" against Denmark.

"It is infinitely a sad morning when everyone is thinking of the victims and their relatives. Two innocent people have lost their lives as a result of a cold-blooded act of terror against Denmark," she said in a statement.

Earlier Sunday morning, Copenhagen police said they had probably killed the attacker behind the two shootings in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

Video surveillance indicates that it was the same person committed both crimes, police said at a briefing.

"We need to clarify whether our hypothesis holds," Police Inspector George Forest said.

"I am happy and relieved that the police have disarmed the alleged perpetrator behind the two shootings. I will continue to encourage everyone to follow police instructions and be vigilant," Thorning-Schmidt said.

She added that the Danish government is closely monitoring developments of the cases.

The first attack occurred Saturday afternoon during a debate event at the cultural center Krudttoenden, where a man was killed and three police officer were wounded.

The second shooting took place late Saturday night near Copenhagen's Norreport Station, where a young jew was shot dead in the head and two police officers were shot in the arm and leg.
