1 injured in Afghan capital blast

At least one person was wounded in a bomb attack in the diplomatic district of the Afghan capital of Kabul Tuesday, an Interior Ministry official said.

"A sticky bomb attached to a vehicle went off at around 7:30 a. m. local time (0300 GMT). The blast left one person slightly wounded," the official told Xinhua.

The attack took place in Macroryan near the U.S. embassy and the vehicle belonging to a government official was destroyed, the source said, without giving details.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, but the Taliban militant group has intensified attacks with a string of bombings and armed attacks over the past couple of months.

The Afghan security forces have assumed the full security responsibility from NATO and U.S. forces after the NATO-led troops switched from combat to a support role.
